Hi all,
How good or bad is the PFC at monitoring knock? I was looking at getting something more modern like the Phormula KS4 but don’t want to purchase this and it just gives me the exact same read out as what I can see now via FC Edit or Copilot in the knock monitors they have and that I current use to monitor knock.
Does any one have any experience of the PFC vs these kinds of units? Are they the same or is there a big technical difference between them with lots more knock being detected?
If it’s the case that the PFC does a decent job I think I’d be better investing some money in something I can listen to with headphones?
Either way, I don’t want to spend big bucks on something as at the moment this is just for my own car and may or may not lead to some mapping on the side in future.
Thanks
Stewart,
Some of it comes down to the application. Some applications have poor knock sensing based on the nature of the stock sensor, and whether using PowerFC or something else, and external unit with different knock sensor style or location may be a huge benefit.
What application are you referring to?
Thanks Mike, it's an RB26.
I saw mention the sensor had cracked in the other thread so let's see how you go with them replaced.
