I am wanting to know the detail of how the Renault F4R engine in my Clio 182 works.
As far as I am aware it only has one tigger input on the crank shaft flywheel and uses wasted spark.
What I can’t work out is how the engine works out if it’s 360 degrees out of timing or not.
Does this not matter as the injectors puts fuel into the inlet port and then if the intake valve opens 360 degrees later it’s still happy?
Thanks
Freddie
I dont have any F4R specific info, but typically if an automotive engine doesnt have a trigger system capable of 720deg sync (i.e no cam sensor), then the ignition will be fired wasted spark (plugs fire on both compression and exhaust stroke) and the injectors will operate on a similar principle - usually fired in two groups, every 360deg, and often not specifically timed to any valve train event.
That’s great, thank you.
