Over the past 4 seasons, I've been using a Cobb device with OTS tunes. My goal is to start tuning my own car, using HPtuner's equipment.

Since I was not able to make any adjustments to the Cobb tunes, I made modifications to my car to complement the tunes. And I don't want to start over again, I'd like to be able to access/copy the settings from my Cobb device and transfer the settings to my new HPtuner equipment.

Can anyone help me do this?

Does Cobb offer logging, with things like ignition timing, and injector pulse width or duty cycle? If, so then make a series of dyno runs at different throttle / manifold pressure points, and log the data. You can enter some of the data points into your new ECU / software. It's a lot of work, but can give you a good starting point to fine tune.

I wouldnt use hp tuners with subaru. There has been people bricking ecu as the rom files are not defined properly. I would use ecuflash and romraider logger for the 16bit & 32bit subaru.

Thanks for the input!

I've been reviewing my 2018 Ecoboost Mustang data logs, time slips and notes from the past 4 drag racing seasons. And, lets say I'm not as organized as I need to be.

Is there a Tuning Service, that can read and share the ECU settings of the 4 Cobb OTS tunes which I've been using to gauge my modifications.

I have never been able to see inside my ECU to know what changes the OTS tunes are making to my ECU. I've only been able to test modifications based on the data logs, after comparing my performance while, switching between the difference Cobb OTS tunes.

You should be able to use hp tuners for your ford mustang. It pays to do some training courses in this area.

Thanks, I'm taking the HP Academy courses now and I will more than likely purchase the HPtuners equipment. They sponsor the NMRA class I compete in SST. I've read thier online information and I may not be understanding it correctly, but it sounds like the only ECU data I can download is the OEM tune. And all my log notes, etc. reference the Cobb 93 octane stages 0,1,2,3.

You won't be able to pull out / read / edit a COBB tune file with something else than a Cobb and Accesstuner, unfortunately.

Of course you can read the maps, but you need the proper flasher for it. Just to throw some into the room, Alientech, Magic Flex and Autotuner. Every Tuning protection can bypassed on the bench or booting the ECU. You just need to have the map definitions once you get the dump from the ECU.

Thanks again for the information! I'm not sure what to do, it doesn't sound like the HPtuner system can do what I want it to do, and from what I have read, Cobb's Access Tuner isn't available.

I'll research the other brands you have mentioned. Thanks!

I'm able to run the 1/4 mile with an ET in the high 12s, on Cobb's 93 octane/stage 3 OTS tune plus air and fuel modifications.

I even ran in the mid 12s with a tune purchased from an engine builder's tuner, which resulted in dangerous over heating of my combustion chambers.

Just to clarify, COBB had to stop offering end user tuning software due to EPA, along with stopping sale/offer of certain tunes and hard parts products.

If you didn't get their end user tuning software before they had to stop giving it out, you cannot get it now.

COBB was the only option for the Ecoboost Mustang platform that I'm aware of which offered their users OTS maps they could use as the basis for proper tuning.

That said, there is tons of great info on how to tune in HPA's practical reflash course, HP Tuners and likely others still offer end user tuning software for that vehicle. Start from stock, take your time, and you can do it!

Looks like I was able to access information from my stage 3, 93 octane pro tune!?? I was hacking around and didn't keep notes, does anyone know how I did it?Photo of computer screen
