I’ve always thought all my tuning would have to be in the longest gear or maybe higher of the ratio is too low. But when tuning steady state today. A friend who also tunes mentioned he start in 1st for low cells and so on, 2nd than 3rd and full ramp runs on 3rd for power or longest gears.

any input will be greatly appreciated.

thank you.

I use whatever gear the dyno works best with. It sounds like you need to have more torque for the steady state to control to work best.

As David said, whichever gives you the most stable, tuneable results and you're happy using.

About the main concerns I'd have would be driveline shunting and the ability of the dyno' to regulate it's speed to the nominal value.
