Greetings everyone.

to preface this, I have a evo 4 with a 2.3 stroker running a haltech, it is a bit of a mixed bag, as the previous owner did the haltech conversion, however I bought it untuned and learned relatively quickly that a lack of tune and 1.5 bar of boost can translate into a hurting wallet.

Long story short, the car is back together, better then ever, but I have an issue with the bosch 150 psi temp/pressure combo sensor.

While the pressure reading is perfect, the temp readings are a bit all over, and I will verifiy the wiring on this, just to make sure, but everywhere that sells these sensors says to now mount them to the engine, requiring a remote location. This makes sense for the pressure, but not so much for the temp side of things. How to the OEM's recitify this? is there a oil-block that people run their oil through that will then also house this sensor so temp readings can be somewhat accurate? On the 4g63 there is an amazing location right on the oil filter housing that would be perfect for this sensor, but I don't want to break the sensor for no reason.

So, TLDR:

Combo sensors, best way to install them to get accurate temp readings?

Is there a sensor that is strong enough to be installed in the engine and able to cope with the vibrations.

Thanks for your time.

Phil

I use them in the oil flow path rather than remote mounted, for the reason you mentioned, so the temperature reading works properly.

They do sometimes fail in a manner where fluid leaks into the pin area, but some live a long life and I've not found a better 1 piece replacement, only separate sensors.
