So say I’m going to tune a car that has a narrowband o2 sensor. I install my wideband and make my changes to the maps. When I’m done with the tune and have saved all my changes. I then reinstall the narrowband. Should I then set it to closed loop operation? Sorry for the newb questions.

Depends -- are you changing the target Lambda from 1.0? Because that is all a narrow-band can really do in closed loop. So if the ECU will still target Lambda 1.0 in cruise and idle and uses closed loop in just those areas. I would enable it. If however, you've changed the target Lambda to richer, and have no way to control what RPM / load the narrow band sensor is used for closed loop, then I wouldn't enable closed loop operation -- it will just undo what you tuned.
