Tell us a little about you. What cars you are interested, where you are from and why you are interested in learning to tune.
Hi All,
David here. I live in Falkirk, Scotland.
Not long purchased a set of Coilovers for my 95 Prelude 2.2 VTEC. Every garage I have asked, if they can fit, told me they won't as I hadn't purchased them directly. I have therefore decided to take matters into my own hands and learn about fitting Coilovers correctly.
I am looking to lower the car, probably by a maximum of 2 inches, to allow the rear 4WS system to still work. (Which I ABSOLUTELY LOVE!!!). The car corners so well with it.
So far upgrades I've made are:
2.5" Custom Exhaust
K&N Cold Air Intake
DragonForce Distributor
NGK HT Leads + Iridium spark plugs
Air Con Delete (dropping 13kgs in the process)
Hopefully it's now making at least an extra 5-10hp🤞
Wanting to upgrade to a Skunk 2 Manifold+Throttle Body. Before finally getting a Hondata P300 Standalone ECU to bring all the components together.
Looking to make a modest 200-220hp, from my stock 185hp. Any advice would be VERY much appreciated to help me achieve the numbers.
Welcome!
Sometimes the aftermarket distributors are more trouble and stock works great, but hopefully you have no trouble with yours.
With a good header and full exhaust, that intake, manifold, throttle body and tune on 98 RON I think you'll be where you want to be!
Welcome to HPA David,
I'm not surprised that garages are refusing to install parts they've not supplied, legally they become liable so it becomes not worth it, especially with the race to zero of online parts sales.
I'd agree with Mike when it comes to the aftermarket distributor, as nice as they look they just don't have the QC that OEM manufacturers do.
Are you planning on doing the tuning of the Hondata yourself?
Hi Chris,
I don't have the experience for standalone ECU tuning. My local performance garage said they can help me once I have i purchased it.
I thought that, when garages all started telling me they wouldn't fit already purchased parts. Understandable.
