Hello from the UK

Just a quick hello from a new member.

Time served Automotive Electrician from the UK.

Left school in 1985 and enrolled on probably one of the last Auto Electrical courses over a 5 year period to gain City & Guilds 381-3-1,381-3-2 and 381-3-3 in Automotive Electrical studies while being employed by an ex Aston Martin Auto Electrician in a small business carrying out general automotive electrical fault finding and classic car restoration.

Moved into accessory fitting for several years after this with the boom of custom stereo systems and the need for insurance approved alarm and immobiliser systems on vehicles before moving to Vauxhall as a diagnostic technician for over 20 years and carrying out investigation and repair of electrical faults across the brand.

Moved to Tesla after a short spell of venturing into running my own business detailing vehicles for some time but have now spent the last two years working for a specialist company restoring and converting Rolls Royce, Bentley, Jaguar, Range Rover and Aston Martin vehicles to a clean air powertrain in very small numbers.

Want to learn more about design and construction of looms as we currently outsource this part of our process but would like to have a better knowledge so as to possibly move this in house to have more control over this process for future builds.

After nearly 40 years in the trade its nice to see that this aspect is starting to thrive again after so many years of being told there was no place for Automotive Electrical specialists as they had been replaced by Master techs in many retail businesses.

Look forward to not only learning but hopefully giving some old school input if i can.
