Hello all,

I've been interested in high performance engine building/tuning, racing, etc. for a long time, but have never pursued it beyond racing motocross and ATVs.......until now! I elected to get the VIP package and just full send on getting educated.

I am an EV technician currently, but spent most of my career as a heavy diesel technician. I also tinker with motorcycles, ATVs, side-by-sides, etc. I just purchased a 2023 Camaro LT1 Redline Edition, and in addition to my 2017 Ram 2500 Cummins and some friends' vehicles (mostly ATVs and SxS), I plan to learn and practice on them. I recently purchased an HP Tuners MPVI3 and have a laptop set up, but of course I don't know what I'm doing!

At some point I'd like to track the Camaro (autocross and/or SCCA), and I plan to take it to the drag strip as well. I don't plan on doing too much in the way of true modifications (cam, heads, etc.) until the warranty runs out. Bolt-ons for now I think.

Anyway, looking forward to learning and practicing, and chatting with you all here. Cheers!

Welcome! What part of western NY? I used to live in Rochester then Buffalo.

That sounds like a well rounded bunch of vehicles!

Nice! Im also a diesel tech for a couple years now and i was thinking of getting a ZL1 1LE but i couldnt find one so i just went with a 2021 civic type r!

@Mike I live just south-east of Rochester (Mendon/Victor area), so I'm sure you are familiar with the area.

@DatboivictoR I originally wanted a 2SS 1LE, but those are super hard to come by now (new at least), and over $55k as well. I got the LT1 almost new (2,051 miles) for a really good price, and it had what I consider to be the "essentials": 6.2L V8, 6spd Tremec, sport suspension package, LSD, active exhaust, 4-piston Brembos up front. Not a 1LE, but also not $55k.......plus, if I'm going to eventually track it, I'd have to rip out all the luxury crap anyway - don't have to worry about that with this LT1! No heated/cooled seats, no sunroof, no 17 speaker stereo system, etc.

Ultimately my goal is full self-employment. A friend of mine and I started a side business in 2022 (at his place, he has a 1 bay shop with a 2-post 9k lift) doing ATV/UTV/Motorcycle service/repair, and I'm trying to get into performance stuff so we can add that to our list of services. We are shooting for next spring to quit our jobs and go full-bore on our business.

Awesome that sounds great.

If you're looking to get into track driving, I used to coach for Hooked on Driving and they put on a great event at the Glen in October.

We usually reply within 12hrs (often sooner)
