Bit of a late starter to seriously modifying cars. I have had a couple of classics (MGB GT, BMW 2002 Touring), and tinkered, and did small mods/upgrades. Gave them up to have a family, as you do (but shouldn't have, really miss the Touring).

Decided to do a project, and save an old family car, a 1980 Volvo 244. It has been in the family from 1982. Got it back on the road, in stock form. But the plan was always to modify it, with the goal of it being reliable, not over powered, and something the whole family could enjoy and drive. So it is getting aftermarket ecu, pdm, harness, 1JZ-GE, A340E. Plan to use DBW throttle, and add cruise control. Along with all sorts of small and medium fabrication jobs...driveshaft, intake, exhaust, fuel system, brakes, making the trans drive the mechanical speedo, using the Volvo shifter to shift the Toyota trans and the list goes on.

So having jumped in with both feet, there may be some need to learn to tune both the engine and trans.

Cheers from NZ
