Hi all, This is Arvin from Hong Kong, I am currently a year two PhD student researching tire-related emissions. And I am also a 2023 BRZ owner.

Even though I am studying something else from EFI tunning, I plan to learn and practice my tuning technique with my own BRZ and become a part-time tuner developing a tunning business in Hong Kong and Mainland China.

Welcome Arvin! You've picked a timely topic.

Now that EV tire particulate emissions are worse than modern gas engine exhaust particulate emissions, it has become a hot topic in the US. CARB is investigating tires, lifted vehicles, brake pads and more for emissions impacts.

And great car choice. I've spent a lot of time in them while making COBB's Ecutek calibrations, and really enjoy the improvements made in the gen 2 car.

Thanks Mike!

Yes, I just completed the in vitro toxicity and environmental occurrence of tire-related emissions in PM2.5, which will show the public some interesting research progress related to tire-related emissions in my first journal paper.

Gen 2 is a really good vehicle for me. I used to be a Gen 1 owner. But when I drove my Gen 2 in mainland China, the throttle response was obviously worse than Gen 1. Even after I changed the header and downpipe, the throttle response was still poor, partly because of the untimely throttle response in the initial stage, and partly because of the severe rev hang affecting the rhythm of my shifting, which is what prompted me to want to try to solve the problem by learning in HP academy to do it through ecutek! .

Arvin,

Almost all Gen2 ROMs I've reviewed have different throttle behavior, so it seems Toyota and Subaru are both unsure how to best please their customers. Ultimately this is part of tuning that comes down to personal preference, and custom adjustment to your satisfaction will be rewarding.

Exactly Mike, this is the point and that's why I want to learn and tune it by myself. Hope I can utilize what I learn to optimize the throttle response of Gen 2 in our market.

Thanks a lot for your kindly replies.

You're welcome! Happy tuning.
