Hi guys! Im Gonzalo from Montevideo, Uruguay, a tinny contry between Argentina and Brazil.
I buy 3 years ago a 1990 Isuzu Impulse XS, yes a "sport" coupe made by Isuzu with suspension and engine designed by lotus.
She have a 1.6 16V N/A DOHC Engine with 130 HP with a A/T transmission.
She have several modification made by me, A/T transmission swaped to a M/T one, Sandalone ECU with new engine hardness and some other little things like PTFE brake lines, 440cc injectors, polyurethane bushings, etc.
A few months ago I started the process of throwing a turbo without disassembling the engine, when I removed the oil pan to make the turbo oil drain I found a surprise, a lot of metal chips. I had to do what I didn't want to do, take the whole engine apart. Unfortunately I found some extremely damaged main bearings as well as the crankshaft, I suspect that the previous owner did a bad job as the tolerances were too tight and several connecting rod bolts had been replaced by others from VW.
Anyway, I decided to wait to get a new forged crankshaft, connecting rods and pistons to have a car of at least 300hp. I decided to dabble in these courses to strengthen my knowledge about this world and build my project as perfect and reliable as possible. I leave some photos of the process! Hope you like!
Welcome this is a cool project
