Hello all,

Due to a configuration change on my engine I’m updating the alternator from a single wire to a more modern 2 wire and looking for some guidance on a Bosch 2 wire alternator control strategy.

Alternator in question is the Bosch AL0703N for a BMW M54B30 - description of factory function in attached photo.

I briefly started looking at the alternator control in M1 Tune, but thought I’d ask here as well.

Thank you!!

Is that a BSD (Bit Serial Data) model? If so you may be out of luck as to supporting it fully with an M1. I believe that those alternators just work like a normal 1-wire alternator if it doesn't receive the expected BSD data.

Hi David,

Fortunately it isn't.

When looking a bit closer - after posting of course - it still uses the factory cluster and a switched 12v.

Have you set up a any sort of work around for this? When I finally get to the wiring I'd like to remove the cluster...

Thank you!
