What is the ideal tyre pressure for a medium compound slick for qualifying

Depends - hot or cold pressures, vehicle weight and distribution, drive axle(s), suspension geometry, spring/damper rates, tyre size and construction, track and ambient temperatures, lap length, tyre compound(s) as "medium" will vary with manufacturer, heat transfer from brakes, etc?

There're a lot of factors to take into account, and it may be anything from the minimum recommended by the tyre manufacturer, usually around 1.8 bar, to 2.5 bar, or higher.

If you have an established race pressure, on similar tyres, that might be a good place to start.

Your best source of information is probably the tire manufacturer. They will know what pressures to suggest for your particular tire compound / construction, vehicle weight. If you typically use only a few laps to qualify, then often cold tire pressure might be a little bit higher -- however, if you are capable of getting the tires into the operating window in one lap, then you will just start with the pressure that gets you to the ideal hot pressure.
