If it's not really about tuning or wiring. Then it belongs in here.
Hi All
Specs: 1JZ engine, front facing Intake plenum with a 90mm throttle body, Large size camshaft, big turbocharger, ECU is a Link G4, has been tuned to 400kw
I am looking at installing a Idle air control valve, initial start up is great but 2 seconds after the idle drops very low (jumps between 200-500rpm) due to the size of the cam and the engine struggles to hold a cold start idle, once warm it is fine but cold start wise i have to hold the throttle open just to be able to get it up to temp otherwise it stalls.
I was looking at installing a Bosch 2 wire remote mount idle speed control but have found that the description says "not suited for long duration camshafts especially below 1600cc", will this be an issue with a 2500cc engine that seems to require a large amount of air just to idle correctly?
Any Advice would be appreciated or if someone has come across this issue with their 1/2jz setup
The reason the valve you've found has stated that it isn't suited for long duration cams is because they use the vacuum of the engine to close the valve fully.
there is a couple other remote mount options I've found, a VW transporter (2 wire) or a BMW idle valve 3 wire), that work well
As an interim you can wind the throttle stop a bit and create an ignition timing hole around and slightly above target idle speed to give you enough air when cold.
