I'm looking to supercharge my Nissan VQ37 with a Rotrex unit and am curious if I am understanding the concept of bypass BOV plumbing correctly. I've attached a simple image of my theoretical setup to better illustrate. This is for a street car setup.

Intentions of using a bypass style BOV instead of dumping to atmosphere are:

1. Reduce cruise and off throttle noise as air is dumped

2. Hopefully reduce fuel consumption from parasitic losses when cruising and using light throttle as the supercharger is not working as hard for no benefit

Questions:

1. Is this a valid setup ?

2. Will it work well, not at all or a little ?

3. What can be done to ensure most of the 'bleed air' is consumed by the super charger and not pushed back out the air filter ?

Assuming throttle body after the BOV and pressure reference after the throttle.

Personally I'd probably vent pre intercooler so it was as cool as possible before coming onto load.

You will have to play with spring/preload adjustment on the BOV for most progressive delivery.

Thanks for the reply Michael. I should have made it clear on my image that the BOV would be plumbed to the intake manifold in order activate on vacuum conditions.

Rotrex specifically call out placing the BOV / bypass AFTER the intercooler to prevent heat soak and damage to the unit, voiding warranty etc etc.

So they are more concerned with the compressor/housing/gearbox temperature? Fair enough. Your diagram is it them.

Yup that will do what you're wanting for the most part, but there will still be noise.

Personally I loved the noise my last blower car made when I vented at cruise, but that's certainly up to personal preference.
