Discussion and questions related to the course PDM Installation & Configuration
Hello,
Zac's course examples of PMU installation have been helpful. I'm in process of a complete re-wire of a Lotus Esprit LS-3 conversion using a Holley Dominator ECU and ECUmaster PMU-24 DL. Sticking fairly close to Zac's methodology, the stock keyed ignition switch will turn on the PDM, which in turn will power up the ECU by default or through an Enable button on the PMU CANbus keyboard. Ideally I would like to have a timer that runs the electric water pump and rad fan(s) for a few minutes after the motor is turned off at the mechanical key. Any suggestions on how to keep the PMU alive for these minutes to time this function after the key is switched off? Other approaches are welcome.
Thanks,
Dave
Ecumaster added a delayed turn off feature, it's in version 56 and newer. So long as the main stud has 12V power
Typically I wire the PDM's turn on with permanent power off either a fuse from the main stud or an output from a battery isolator. Then the ignition key is just an input into the PDM. The PMU's are actually really low amp draw when idle, I have not had battery drain issues with them compared to other PDM's.
Teeson, wiring like that would keep the PDM always on, and when the ign sw is turned on, it activates the outputs?
