Discussion and questions related to the course PDM Installation & Configuration
Hi everyone. I wonder if I have got a little ahead of myself when ive built a wiring harness for a current project.
with the CanBus main truck is possible to have more than two termination resistors in the harness. Basically I have installed an extra node on the bus and was thinking would it be possible to just terminate that node with a 120ohm resistor.
what would be the best solution here if you have an extra node that is unwanted (not needed).
That's simple, don't connect anything there. I often build CAN busses with extra connections for future devices, nothing special, just wire tie the connector to the harness.
You should not have more than two termination resistors. In practice the bus will sometimes work with 3 terminating resistors (especially if they are using 120 ohm each), But I have seen busses fail when an extra device with a built-in terminating resistor is added (I'm talking about you MoTeC UTC...) as some devices can't drive the additional load.
