Hello.

I am trying to tune my 4.0 Tdi after putting hybrid turbos on it and removeing the stock DPF and connected cat. For offroad use ofcourse.

Th thing is i only increade fuel us about 4%, rail pressure from 2500 until the end with max 7% and boost pressure 15% with the new turbos who apparently can hold more pressure.

The problem is i cannot make a fine tuning and the car smokes when accelerating. I even tried to raise the smoke AFR maps to lambda 1.25 and still smokes. Other than that if i raise the lambda from low rpms i lose torque of course.. Any ideas? Optimal AFR or smotheing else to reduce smoke ?

Thanks

Hi.

Dragos here from ONE Customs, Europe.

Did you alter timing and or duration maps?

Although newer Euro6 and onward diesels tend to run pretty rich from factory, it should not allow the engine to produce visible smoke unless its tuned wrongly or there is some sort of hardware fault.

A VCDS log on RPM, mean inj quantity, Smoke Limit, Torque limit, desired and actual boost, charge pressure duty cycle (n75), lambda, Exhaust gas temp 1, should let us know pretty much whats going on there.

Good luck!

If you start with a stock file, just DPF delete only, does it still smoke? Have you measured lambda on a dyno?

We usually reply within 12hrs (often sooner)
