how do I remove the skim on my 2007 ram 3500 with the 6.7 cummins. I’m doing a conversion swap and installing a 6.7 Cummins and the 68rfe transmission into an excursion, and I trying to remove the skim from the ram wiring harness, so I purchased an HP tuner to try and remove it software wise then hardware. But just because I disable it in the hpTuner software it’s not removing/disabling the skim I still have to use the chipped key to crank it. I saw on YouTube diyhemi that you have to write a new file then cycle key then select “skim disable for retrofit” and your good to go, unfortunately my hpTuner MPVI3 doesn’t have that feature.
I know I can just tape the key in the skim and hide it under the dash, but I would really like to do a clean wiring job. All your help would be appreciated, thank you.
Josh,
I've not done many of these but I suspect it may be a missing parameter in HPTuners. The guy responsible for the Cummins templates is quite responsive over there. I would submit a ticket via HPT's help desk and outline what DIYHemi says. You may be able to open and EFILive tune and take a screenshot of the parameter you need.
Hope this helps,
Nick
