Hi,

I have a Motec M150 running a BMW S65B40 V8 with the twin throttle motors, and idle speed solenoid using the CAN bus to control it. Motec have a pre configured option on the drop down menu under Servo-S65B40.

The customer is having issues with it going into limp at random times, mainly when hot (but this morning it happened on first ignition on, cold). The fault has been there for a couple of years with the previous owner, the motors have been replaced and position sensors replaced by the previous owner.

The fault is saying on the menu under the Servo drop down box,

-BMWS65B40--Diagnostic = Main Throttle Fault

-BMWS65B40--Bank 1--Actuator--State= Fault

-BMWS65B40--Bank 1--Zero--Phase=Fault

and the same codes above for Bank 2.

When it goes into limp the idle control side of things is still working, so I'm assuming the CAN is ok as its on the same CAN and there is no Time Out errors.

The fault on the "Phase" I'm guessing that's just checking the positions? and when it goes into fault the calibration wasn't successful within 1sec, is there a way to increase this time?

Has anybody got more information on the setup?

Hi Gareth,

Which firmware package are you using?

GPR wouldn't have support for CAN position feedback from these throttle servos so either it's a partner package or someone modified the servos to directly pickup the analog voltage position feedback

Hi, it is a partner package, this is a screen shot. I can't seem to attach the file. I also have a super large logging file as well with all the throttle servo positions etc on it. I can see in the log when it goes into fault but just can't see why it is happening.

I'm not with the car for a few days but have been thinking and I do want to check the current draw from the PDM.

You would be best off reaching out to RDS as they wrote the firmware.

We usually reply within 12hrs (often sooner)
