K24 turbo AWD (Toyota 3sgte AWD system),

Stock internals (type S Oil pump and ARP headstuds),

25 VTC,

E-throttle,

E50 flex fuel,

6767 turbo,

Maxxecu race

1.2 bar boost, Lambda 0.80, 15 degree IGN after peak torque, (knock control, Oil press, fuel pressure, Boost cut limits are active) 7500 Revs,

503 AWHP

Need feedback as its stock rods, pistons and 50/50 AWD power distribution with 3sgte AWD system which is different from Honda 70/30 power distribution.

Now looking to setup launch control for drag race. what's the best approach to setup launch control ? i have a plan to run low boost in 1st, 2nd gear and ramp up boost in high gears?

is it too much HP for stock rods with 50/50 power distribution?

I'm just a casual, but I've seen stock internal k24 with 650-750 crank hp that run for 50,000 plus km (although the cars I am referencing were running e85).

I've also seen stock internal k24 cars blow up after a handful of 1/4mi runs in the 600-700 crank hp range.

I think you have a bit of head room left but you are getting close in my unprofessional opinion.

Considering how lazy your powerband is, I dont see any issues, I have done 580WHP on my Prohub on stock bottom end K24s. Ign timing seems pretty good. On turbo setups I dont see much gain going passed 30VTC but you might see some better response if you would upgrade. If it is RBB3 or TSX equivalent then you should be fine. CRV or Accord rods are alot thinner. That turbo is really big for this power. I would recommend getting some skunk2 tuner 2 cams or similar and springs and retainers and you can gain about 30-40HP at the same boost and timing. The graph below has a TSX engine SKunk 2 tuner 2 cams SandRs Precision JB 6262 Turbo with 0.96 AR Housing on E78 in an MR2, It has been running like this for passed 4 Years. Peak boost is 17.8Psi and timing is close to yours. I do not rev passed 8200 but the same motor used to be a 150 shot nitrous in FWD trim revving to 9400 =)

Thank you, Rhino12 Looks like I'm in the ballpark for now.

Hi Tommy, Appreciate the feedback! Yeah, I kept VTC at 25 since I didn’t see much gain pushing it further with this setup, but I might play around with it. yes it's a RBB3, so it should be solid. I agree on the turbo, it’s definitely oversized for the power, but I went with it for future-proofing if I decide to push things later.

Interesting that you got 580WHP on a stock bottom end! That gives me some confidence, though I’m still a bit cautious with the 50/50 AWD split since it’ll load the rods differently than a 70/30 Honda setup. I’ll definitely look into Skunk2 Tuner 2 cams and valvetrain upgrades—that extra 30-40HP at the same boost/timing sounds like a solid gain.

For launch control, I’m thinking of setting up a staged boost-by-gear strategy low boost in 1st/2nd, then ramping it up in the higher gears. Given your experience, would you recommend a softer initial hit with a higher launch RPM or more aggressive boost control off the line?

Also, that MR2 setup sounds killer especially with how long it’s been running strong. Definitely inspiring!

Cheers!
