Hi there, I ve just got my parts from the machine shop and was about to assemble my 2JZ engine and I notice that my connecting rod big end and Main bearing oil clearance seem way too high, please have a look and let me know your thoughts on the way forward. Below are the parts I have chosen to use:

ACL race bearings (main and rods) STD size

Carillo HD rods

Crank (stock) low mileage and all well within spec

Any help would be much appreciated!

From my experience with ACL bearings it's always a gamble. I always buy two sets of bearings with different size and play around with them to make the oil clearances 0.06 mm for main and 0.05mm for rod... Yours are looking too big, indeed unless you plan to make tonns of power with very thick oil.

By the way, I forgot to mention that i was talking specifically about ACL bearings for jz engines. For 4g63 for instance I stopped using them at all because the clearances they provide out from the box are way too big...

Err, eek! I am running my clearances pretty loose but they are unusable. Have you checked the housing sizes?

We usually reply within 12hrs (often sooner)
