Hello,
Is there any reason why you can't remove casting flash inside the block prior to have the engine sent to the machine shop? Obviously the decked surfaces will need to be deburred afterwards but atleast if the casting flash is removed earlier it will make less of a mess to later clean up after the engine has been machined.... Or am I wrong and theres a reason we need to do it after?
Thanks in advance!
Hi Teju,
There is no reason why you can't remove casting flash before machining and yes like you have stated you will still need to deburr freshly machined surfaces. It is important to thoroughly clean the engine before assembly. It will all depend on how effectively you block all holes to prevent debris from entering them will ultimately save you time in the long run.
