Hi,

When measuring the the rod bearing clearance, do the rod end caps need to be torqued or simply nipped up ?

Thank you,

Kal

[edit] It's a good practice to torque them, or set them to stretch, because the rod material may compress slightly under the clamping force of the bolt/stud.

If using aluminium rods, it's a must!

Hold the rod in a vice, just below the mating face with some "soft jaws" to make it easier, and without damaging the rod - if you don't have them, a couple of lengths of aluminium angle will do the job.

You can buy specific 'rod vices, but if you're not doing this on a regular basis, it may be an un-needed expense.

We usually reply within 12hrs (often sooner)
