Hi,

Here in Russia we don't have TXL wire, and Tefzel is 4 times more expensive than same wire shipped from USA, so I am planning to order 22AWG Tefzel wire from US.

What amount of wire should be enough for ECU harness on a front engine car with ECU in a glovebox? With my ballpark estimate, 5x250ft spools of Tefzel in 5 differrent color should be enough, but I wanted to confirm. I'm not extremely worried about not having enough wire - I can source it locally, but it will be cheaper to ship the right amount from US.

This depends on the number of cylinders, coils, and other items like (drive by wire will need 3-4x as much wire as a single TPS), Variable CAM, Knock Sensing, number of temperature and pressure sensors, boost control, gearbox integration, communications, etc. You should just start your wiring spreadsheet to highlight the connections you need and the number of wires.

Despite all that, 1250 feet of wire should be enough for any engine project. You could have 125 connections each 10 feet long.

David,

Thank you for the information.

The engine is inline 4-cylinder without DBW and VVTi, so I think that i will use less than average amount of wire. I'll start with 1250 feet then.
