Discussion and questions related to the course Practical Motorsport Wiring - Club Level
I'm wiring my build from scratch and working on the chassis harness. I have a Moristech Black Box PDM which has 30 outputs. I'm pretty clear on how to wire up the actual lamps, but I can't seem to verify the correct way to get the retractor motors to work with the OEM switches, which include the stalk and the push button that just retracts the motors. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Do you understand how the stock system works? Can you describe it to us?
Since you're rebuilding it from scratch and running new wires there're a few different ways to do it. The nice thing is that the actuators themselves have integrated limit switches and just require a high side signal to actuate. Z-54 is where you'd want to look in the wiring diagram to start making your decisions.
I know it’s been a while since I posted but here’s an update. The stock system is pretty simple—4 wires, 12v, ground, retractor up, retractor down. I have it set up in the PDM to open with the headlight switch, but still trying to figure out the logic of how to get them to close.
What does the OEM system do with the retractor up and retractor down? Does the motor open with retractor up is 12v and retractor down is ground? Does the motor close when the retractor up is gnd, and the retractor down is 12V?
