It seems raychem scl only goes up to 1". What can be substituted for it in situations where the main trunk is 1" or larger? I have found some much cheaper options but don't want to compromise the integrity of the strain relief.

For the main/trunk strain relief REALLY shouldn't be required (some may disagree?) - just make sure you have it routed well and secured properly - you may wish to add silicone rubber cushioning between the clamps and the cabling, to prevent abrasion and add gently holding pressure.

I'm not 100% sure I'm following. Typically if you're trying to provide sealing and strain relief to your harness this would be achieved using heat moulded boots or transitions from either TE or Hellerman. I use sections of SCL to seal the very ends of my harness where I'm terminating to a sensor or actuator that doesn't use an AS-style connector. I can't think I've ever had the requirement to utilise 1" SCL. Even branch points in the main trunk of a harness can be sealed using a bottle shape boot. Let me know if I've misunderstood.
