Hello,

I recently bought motec m4 and pci cable to be able to connect it to my pc but I dont know how to connect it.

Is there anyone who can guide me through the process ?

Thank you

Do you have the manual for the M4?

It's available here:

https://www.motec.com.au/hessian/uploads/M4_M48_M8_Manual_A5_25bd830fe8.pdf

Basically you need to use a Serial Port on a machine that can run a DOS window (I have an old Windows 95 computer I use). You can download the MoTeC M4 EMP software from:

https://moteconline.motec.com.au/ResourceDownload/DownloadPayload?ResourceTypeName=Software&ResourceName=M4.EMPRelease&Version=06.13.00.0D

Yes I have both the manual and old laptop with 32 bit architecture for the software, but what troubles me is how to phisically connect ecu to the pci cable for it.

The wiring diagram on page 55 of the manual shows how the DB-9 male in the harness should connect to the ECU connector. Your PCI cable attaches to that DB-9, and the DB-9 on your computer's serial port (or USB serial adapter -- I use the Tripp Lite Keyspan USA-19HS serial adapter, it has been very compatible with all sorts of serial devices and software.)

Page 9 in the manual describes connecting it. The Keyspan sofware will allow you to assign a COM port (use a small number, the EMP software can only be configured for something like COM1: through COM4: I believe).

Oh I see now, thank you. Also do you by any chance know where can I buy additional parts needed to connect it ?

We usually reply within 12hrs (often sooner)
