Hi guys,

I’m starting my race car loom build very soon and everything is planned out and detailed, (I’m using an M800 on an RB30 in a circuit car) except im not sure the best way of running the REF and SYNC wiring through the firewall connector (Deutsch HD30 47 way)

Do I run the shield to sensor ground at the ECU connector up to the cabin side firewall connector leaving the shield unconnected.

Then the engine bay side, connect the shield to sensor ground at the firewall connector right up to the 3 pin DTM for the Hall sensor?

Also is around 180mm too long for the Hall sensor fly lead to DTM plug to be unshielded?

Thanks in advance.

Brent

When passing a shielded cable through a blukhead connection, I usually just use a pin for the shield, and connect the shield on both sides of the connector. If I am terminating the shield at the ECU ground (not typically the sensor ground), then I would just do it near the ECU. A small length of un-shielded signal (ie, around the bulkhead connector) has not been a problem for me.

I doubt the (possiblly unshieled) flying lead on your hall sensor will be a problem unless it is located near a coil or something.

We usually reply within 12hrs (often sooner)
