Hi

Hi

Finding it hard to. get open barrel splices for the construction of my new wiring loom and just wondering to know does anyone have a good place that does either an assortment or individual ones that I will require. Will be working in the ranges from 22 AWG to 14AWG for my main wiring harness up to 8 AWG for heavier power cables and earthing points Any help appreciated thanks

Hi Shane,

Farnell is a good company that sells TE Connectivity splices and to the best of my knowledge have an Irish site. They will have all the sizes you need for each wire.

How best to get the right size crimp die and barrel for a splice into existing factory wires?

I live in US and likewise i need sourcing for barrel connectors. Also, the method to find the best size die for crimp works if creating a harness but required a lot of trial and error. I need to splice into my existing factory harness and there's not much extra. The corrosion required me to cut it short and i already disposed of that crusty stuff. What is the best method to find the correct crimp setting and barrels?

Thanks for your help in this.

I would try https://www.mouser.com/

The hard part is finding them in small quantities, but they are there. For sizing trial and error just use scraps of other wire not necessarily from your car, but the same awg.

I am not very experienced at identifying the wire AWG by sight. I do not have scrap wire and will be purchasing some but trying to get an idea what size wire, crimp die, barrels and heat shrink type to get. The dual wall heat shrink seams a good choice. This is for a 2006 Chevy Suburban LS camshaft sensor.
