Discussion and questions related to the course 3D Modelling & CAD for Motorsport.
Hello Team
I am having an issue with the equal constraint after dimensioning the larger outer curve and the smaller curves i can get the 3 smaller curves to turn black but not the two left over larger curves. please see the time stamp below at what point this is happening, i think because of this i also can not fillet them as per the video.
10:32 This is an easy fix by dimensioning the large outer curve and one of the smaller curves and then using the equal constraint to define the other two smaller curves
Kind Regards
Craig
Hi Craig, Sorry for the delay answering - been flat out
I've had quite a few people ask this same question in the forum.
If I ever get time to remake the module I'll try use an example that is a little less prone to the constraints dropping off depending on what order things are done.
However, look at this as an extra learning opportunity to really understand the constraints.
The first thing i'd recommend is using your mouse to pull the undefined section of the sketches around - from how they'll move you'll very quickly see how they are or aren't constrained.
I'd guess that the circles will move out of alignment with each other - which can be fixed using the 'concentric' constraint.
Or the size of the circle will change which can be fixed by defining its size - either using the equal constraint to another circle or dimensioning it directly.
Hopefully that helps. If not feel free to export a design file (.f3d) and upload it here and i'll show you with a screen recording
Cheers,
Connor
