Hi,

I'm having trouble opening the f3d 3 bolt flange file in solidworks 2023. Does anyone know how to open this file in solidworks?

Thanks,

Jake

Hi Jake,

since f3d is the native file type for fusion this might not be possible but try follow this process and let me know how you get on...

Hi Connor,

I can't find the "files of type" or "options" it references in that link. I ended up downloading Fusion 360 and then exporting the file as .STEP file and then opening that in solidworks. It seems to work for the 3 bolt flange model but it doesn't seem to work for the roll cage sketch in the 3d sketching lesson.

Hey Jake, that makes sense, a STEP file is really just a solid model that doesn't contain any of the history features like sketches etc.

If you export the roll cage sketch as a dxf you should be able to open that in solidworks.

However on the free version of fusion they make this a bit tricky - make sure you right click the sketch in the browser and select "export as dxf" from here

We usually reply within 12hrs (often sooner)
