Discussion and questions related to the course 3D Modelling & CAD for Motorsport.
Hi,
I am following along the 3D Sketching module, at time stamp 2:40, and I am having some trouble following the instructions.
Issue #1
In the video, the instructor creates his first construction line stemming from the bottom right point of the roll cage. When he is finished, the sketch orients itself so the line is then on the left side of the roll cage sketch. When I follow his steps, I create my construction line on the bottom right point and when it orients itself, the construction line stays to the right.
Issue #2
When I try to continue through this step, when I try to snap the first dashboard aligned tube, the sketch line won't snap to designated roll cage sketch point like is done in the video.
I am pretty confused and can't seem to be able to properly describe my issue to find answers on google/youtube so any help is greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Connor
Hey Connor
I think i'll that's happening is the direction you're viewing from the sketch from below or it's just turning it around the other way for whatever reason. If you're looking directly at a view (front, top, right, whatever) you'll notice the little navigation tool in the top right corner has some extra arrows - use these to rotate the view around and you should be able to match what I have in the video.
For the second issue - make sure you have the "snap" preference and "3D Sketch" preference turned on in the sketch pallete
I think this video should help you understand a few things
Hi Connor,
Thank you for the help so far. I have attached a video to show you what I am dealing with. As instructed, I made sure that snap and 3D Sketch were turned on in the sketch pallete and running into the same issue. Hopefully the video gives you a better understanding.
Looking forward to figuring this out!
Thanks,
Connor
No video attached? Can you try that again?
Weird, I tried attaching the screen recording and the website shuts down. I think the file is too big. I just put the video into a zip folder. Let me know if that works.
still no luck the zip file is empty
