According to the 3D CAD course, there's a link to download Fusion 360 somewhere on this site, but I can't seem to find it. Is it included in the 3D CAD course or do we have to purchase it separately?

Fusion 360 is available here:

Yes, Fusion 360 is a subscription product you have to buy. It was available for free at one time.

you do not have to buy it/pay for it. There are free and paid versions.

The free version is called "fusion 360 for personal use", click the "get started" button in this link.

They cut me off after a time, then wanted $545 USD per year. I’m going to try SolidWorks, they have a Makers license for $99 a year.

The personal license can be extended Dennis. They send you notifications about that after 3 years, but you can pay for SOLIDWORKS Makers instead as well if you wish to or use Onshape, or even something else entirely different. There are many options out there all with their own pros and cons, some small, some major 😎
