Discussion and questions related to the course Professional Motorsport Data Analysis
Hi guys,
I have got a Bosch ABS M5 kit and i am fitting it on to a GT86. I need help with the wheel speed sensors.
I want to know if the factory wheel speed sensors with be compatible with the Bosch control unit?
The sensors are quite different because the Bosch detects the trigger from the top of the sensor and the factory sensor from the side. So fitting the Bosch sensor does not look like its possible. I have looked at the hubs and trying to modify the trigger to a head on position also looks tough.
Any help or guidance would be highly appreciated.
I think they're doing exactly that conversion on their race car, ah, don't know about updates but this may be of interest - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZNj-6Zmut1o
Thanks Gord, I am aware that they were doing this conversion but there is not much information on the installation.
I hope that Andre or someone at HP academy could help me out with some information how I can go about it.

Pinged Andre for insight after the weekend.
Thanks Mike
Bump... Any leads Andre :)
He's a busy chap, it might take a little time.
Are there any ID markings on the sensors you have - I wouldn't expect them to be compatable, because the Bosch seems to use two sensors in each sender - they're directional - but you know what they say about "assume"...
Page 301 of the catalogue https://www.bosch-motorsport.com/media/downloads/catalogs/printkatalog_2020.pdf has different sensors the system works with, one of which https://www.bosch-motorsport-shop.com.au/df11s-wheel-speed-sensor-997-porsche looks a bit like what you need, but it is late here, and you're going to need to check for your self.
Thanks Gord i will look into the links you have sent! Cheers
They’re OEM.
Sorry Mike, i didn't follow you. Whats OEM? The ones on the HPacademy 86?
Sorry for the confusion. You asked if they're using OEM wheel speed sensors, and they said yes they are.
Oh Mike cheers man. That is a big win and relief! I am glad the OEM sensors will work with the bosch m5!
