Discussion and questions related to the course Practical Motorsport Wiring - Professional Level
Hey guys,
I'm just now dipping my toes into a full MoTeC setup for my project car and am looking at the 6 Button Rotary CAN Keypad to add a little functionality.
In the data sheet this is connected on CAN2 of the Display logger with a single 100 Ohm resistor across the CAN Hi and Low towards the Display end. I'm used to having a terminating resistor at both ends. Is this as simple as splicing a resistor across the CAN Hi and Low close to the Display? Does it need to be very close proximity to the Display? I could probably do all this behind the boot for the Plug to the display. Is this what you guys normally do?
Thanks for your help.
Normally there is a splice in the CAN wiring a few inches from the connector, the 100-120 ohm resistor is connected to the new wires and covered in adhesive lined heat shrink. You can also connect it at the back of the keypad connector.
Right on, thanks for the reply!!!
