With the new tariff situation I can't order wire and connectors from the USA anymore, so I'm looking for a good supplier for 22759/32 tefzel wire and deutsch dtm/dt connectors from Asia or Europe. Basically I'm looking for the "ProWireUSA" of Europe or Asia.

Anyone have a company they want to recommend? bonus points if you've used them for ordering into Canada before.

thanks!

Phill

Hangtight.io is working on it. The issue we're facing is that most of the wire in NA is actually made in the US. Currently we have stock in some TXL wire and amphenol connectors, feel free to email sales@hangtight.io to inquire.

We'll have to see what happens in the near future with these tariff wars. It's definitely going stall/limit things...

Thanks Teeson,

I'm not familiar with the amphenol ATM etc connectors, they look a lot like Deutsch connectors, did you go with them because of the shrink boot lip or?

Is the crimp tooling the same? What about contact sizes?

I'm happy I asked, I've been looking for Canadian distributors and I hadn't previously found you guys on my searches. Happy to support Canadian business.

But as you said, most wire is made in USA. I've been looking at some Chinese options that manufacture to the m22759 standard, but colour options are limited and min quantity to order is usually 1000ft or more per option.

The existing tariffs that have come into place on Feb 1st at the US's deployment don't affect the price of goods crossing from the US to Canada, only the other way around.

Canada has proposed their own tariffs, but I haven't seen anything beyond "25% 155 billion dollar targeted" tariffs", so no one knows what products those will be on. These are to come into place in about a month IIRC.

Order what you need now.

Yes, Amphenol is a licensed manufacturer of Deutsch style connectors, they are often cheaper and they also seem to have more variety of connectors that TI doesn't make, such as bulkhead DTM, and a wider variety of coloyrs of DT style connectors, as well as 18 pin DT connectors, among others.

My go to is the Amphenol brand, but I do often compare pricing when ordering to TI Deutsch brand because sometimes the TI version is a little cheaper.

Well the first list of retaliatory tariffs is already out, it covers 19% of what will be tariffed coming into Canada from the USA. the remainder will be announced soon and be in force in about 3 weeks.

The good news is that on the first wave of stuff there is no mention of wire, connectors, or heat shrink. Although tools are immediately affected.

Yeah it's a bit of a wait and see with the Canadian tariffs. All this is happening so fast the roll out is bound to be a bit chaotic.

Hang Tight is pretty new, we've been centered on our power steering controller for the last little while. Plan was to start with that and do wire, aftermarket and OEM connectors along with most of electrical parts/supplies I have stocked as a harness builder. But building a good website has been a large project of course, that said we are getting closer every day. if you email me I can always quote and ship what's in stock.

Amphenol and Deutsch are interchangeable. DT=AT, ATM=DTM etc. all the parts, tooling, contacts, etc are the same. The Amphenol catalogue was wider and that was the driving factor for us.

Thanks, I will keep it in mind. Would be good to find connectors that aren't manufactured in the USA. It's just hard to get info on where these connectors Amphenol or Deutsch are coming from. Even when something is made somewhere else, often distribution is coming from the USA (like REDARC). So we'll have to see if the trade war lingers if some distribution starts being diverted to Canada or other countries to buy direct and bypass the states. In the meantime I'm going to stock up on wire and connectors right now and then wait for the full tariff list coming out in the coming weeks. I'll keep researching international options and post back and hopefully small distributor/retailers like hang tight can stock and sell stuff to the average Canadian.

Tariffs have been delayed, so crisis averted for now, but I'll still be looking to find non USA suppliers/manufacturers

just a heads up that I found a Canadian supplier for m22759/32 wire in Ontario. Sycor. They are a distributor and the wire is still manufactured in the USA, but they said they could look into European or Asian options for me as well. Most importantly their pricing comes out less expensive than what I'm paying importing myself and I have a final price in Canadian dollars right up front. So I ordered 1000ft of 20 gauge to try out and they're sending me some heat shrink samples since they don't have Raychem DR25. if I can find a suitable replacement for the DR25 I may switch, but probably not.

I also found out I can order deutsch connectors in bulk through Lordco, who is supplied by Pico Canada. however, they don't have the heat shrink lip style that I order from ProWireUSA. So until suppliers start stocking and selling the heat shrink lip version I'm not interested. Their selection of pins etc also sucks compared to ProWire. You can go with Amphenol ATM connectors from digikey, but I did a price comparison and it was more expensive by about 20-30% than ordering from the states. I'd have to order each connector in volumes over 250 to get similar pricing and that's just too much for me right now.

Don't know if the HP academy guys will see this, but since I've gotten into business doing autosports wiring I've actually gotten a lot of requests for more basic stuff like dual-battery setups, solar etc. for work vans or campers. Might be interesting to branch out the automotive wiring courses into utility systems like house batteries, inverters, automation/management, charging options (alternator/AC/solar), and best practices for 12V lights and equipment installations.

the pico "deutsch" are china knock offs just fyi

Thanks for the confirmation, I suspected, but it's hard to tell. Usually the pricing is a give-away lol

We usually reply within 12hrs (often sooner)
