Discussion and questions related to the course Practical Motorsport Wiring - Professional Level
Hello! I’ve got a shielded twisted 3-core tefzel cable I’m trying to terminate. But the shield is so tightly woven I can’t split it in conventional ways. Any tips?
Might be mistaking the problem - but a "box-cutter" knife with a new blade, and some care, would be my thoughts.
Yeah, I don’t think I was quite clear in my first post. I was trying to unbraid the shield to be able to crimp a wire to it before pinning it(sort of like in the attached photo). But it’s so tightly woven, it couldn’t be done without breaking the strands in the shield. So I ended up folding the shield back over the insulation, and using a solder sleeve.
Never seen the shield so tightly woven before, normally it’s loose enough to push it back and make a small gap to get the cores out. But on this cable that was not possible.
