Discussion and questions related to the course Practical Motorsport Wiring - Professional Level
In one of our upcoming builds I will have several DTM connectors that probably won't be connected for every race. Is there a common way to seal the unmated ends in a temporary manner? Or will this not cause any major issues?
I have looked through the catalogs and there are only dust caps available for 3 and 12 pin connectors, which is no use as these will be 2 pin connectors.
If its sitting somewhere clean and dry I wouldnt be too worried. If it is somewhere exposed then you would probably be best to fit the mating connector onto it with some cavity plugs in place of wires. Smaller ones you could probably shrink a big piece of adhesive lined shrink over the open end and pinch it closed - it will cut off without much drama later.
If concerned, I would fill the wire seal area of some mating connectors with silicon and use them as caps.
Thanks for the responses. These are great suggestions. I should still have some spare housings and plugs which I can use.
