Discussion and questions related to the course Race Driving Fundamentals
Some clubs offer time for a track walk, others offer a slow drive through. I personally find the walk more beneficial. Is there a way I can get more out of a slow course drive through?
Setup a high resolution camera on the front of the car and record the drive, then you can go back over it to investigate areas of concern. Try and maintain a gap to the vehicle in front of you so that they are not obscuring the video and maintain the racing line through the corners.
I would also do some hard acceleration/braking (if possible to safely do so) on line to get a feel for the track's grip levels.
I'd also suggest recording your comments, observations and thoughts as you drive round the track - if you can record it as a voice-over on the video, rather than on a 'phone, or whatever, it will tie them together more effectively.
