Discussion and questions related to the course Suspension Tuning & Optimization
Hi,
I am a bit confused by the Understeer Cheat Sheet which I hope I have successfully attached with a part circled in red.
Under the 'Mid Corner' and 'Excessive Front Roll? NO' column are the following recommendations:
1.Stiffen Front Roll Bar,
2.Increase Front Compression Dampening,
3.Increase Front Spring Rate
To my understanding all the above would increase front roll stiffness. Wouldn't this cause even more understeer?
Thanks
In principle, I would agree with you, as that's what "I" would expect.
There are some exceptions, such as the Ford Anglia and Escorts, where the increase in load transfer is greatly compensated for by the reduction in the positive camber from the body roll.
