In the "how to splice" webinar, the wiring fundamentals course and practical harness construction course Zac refers to the Delphi #12085271 ratchet crimper as the best crimper to use for reliably crimping open-barrel splices.
Can anyone recommend an alternative crimper that's easily available in Australia? The delphi/sargent tool looks great, but it will cost about $150+ AUD to get it landed here and take a few weeks (from all the sources I have found).
I have worn mine out. And need to get a new set soon. I will probably get the same again, as these have done me good for the best part of a decade now of daily trade use.
Did you ever find a source for this crimps?
No, but I found an alternative that's worked great and cost a fraction of the price. I bought it from Jaydee Auto cables, but the exact one is no longer listed. This looks to be their replacement: [url=https://jaydeeautocables.com.au/products/brass-terminal-crimper-jd61-1?_pos=1&_sid=b439e4129&_ss=r]https://jaydeeautocables.com.au/products/brass-terminal-crimper-jd61-1?_pos=1&_sid=b439e4129&_ss=r
