My question is MoTeC specific and more precisely M150 and C127 race package with level 1 logging. I am finding myself wanting or needing higher resolution logging than what I am currently able to view. I’m unclear on the upgrade options available and which would work best in my scenario. 1st question, does a logging upgrade apply to both the dash and the M150, or is each a separate purchase? If separate, which do you recommend and what would I look for to determine which would be better for my application (what is the difference between both options)? Question 2, will I2 standard allow me to view the higher resolution or do I also have to purchase I2 Pro?

I would suggest you call your friendly MoTeC dealer (Veracity Racing Data, 805-238-1699). But I will answer here so others can learn as well.

First you need to determine what needs to be logged. If you need internal channels in the M150 (like your Dual Clutch stuff in your RNT Firmware), then unless this is transmitted to the dash, you will only be able to log it with the M1 Level 2 or Level 3 logging. Level 2 Logging allows you to log up to 200 channels and 200 hz maximum (some channels don't update that fast and you can only log them at their update rates). This is sufficient to analyze / debug things like Paddle Shifting, Traction Control, Drive-by-Wire, Knock control and more. It's really worthwhile if you have sophisticated systems to be tuned / debugged. You can purchase this from any MoTeC dealer, they just need your ECU sn. If you find that 200 channels or 2000 hz is not sufficient, then you can upgrade level 2 to Level 3. A License can often be generated within hours.

If what you want to work on is already being sent to your MoTeC C127 dash, or includes channels directly generated by the dash, then you will want Logging Memory enabled in the dash. This is typically used for vehicle setup, and driver coaching but you can capture plenty of ECU channels to help you tune a fuel map, or compensations in the ECU.

In general for a racing vehicle we have logging in both the Dash and either the default Level 1 or Level 2 logging in the ECU.

Once you have logged data, you need to consider if you can benefit from Pro Analysis (I2 Pro), vs I2 Standard. I2 Pro benefits include unlimited numbers of worksheets making it easy to focus on a particular type of analysis, math channels allowing you produce even more data (so 4 suspension sensors can generate 30+ channels of data with everything from pitch and roll to downforce and damper speeds). I2 Pro can be purchased as a yearly license for your laptop allowing any device producing I2 Standard files to be opened in I2 Pro, or you can get the Pro-Analysis option for each device (more common). Often we will have I2 Pro on the Dash, but continue with I2 Standard on the ECU.

Pricing for all the options in the US can be found on the Milspecwiring.com website (MoTeC USA importer), and you can purchase those codes and licenses from any MoTeC dealer.
