How to setup a custom pedalbox that uses a bias bar.
This is something I've been struggling with. There are just such an overabundance of adjustments possible. So figuring out the proper combination of variables is tricky. Everything from the sizing of the cylinders, position of the box, position of the pedals relative to each other, getting the correct brake pressure to the front and back, making sure the brakes engage properly and that the brakes aren't dragging due to static pressure in the lines from an incorrect adjustment, and of course figuring out a proper front/rear ratio.
It's not overly complicated, there's just so much there, and many of these variables influence each other. So changing one thing means having to readjust others, and it's a domino effect.
This is a topic that has very little information available online. But it's super important, because an incorrectly setup pedalbox can ruin the drivability of an otherwise perfectly setup car.
Hi Matt,
Thanks for this post! We are planning a future course on braking systems, I agree that there is a lot of value in this for people. As you say, there are a lot of variables to consider and probably not that much good quality information out there!
I've recorded your ideas and will include them in the planning of the course when that happens. If you have other suggestions for what you would find helpful to include, that could also be helpful to us!
