00:01 - Peter has asked, I heard you can overlay the knock retard histogram over the timing table to help identify corrections easier, is that true, if so how is that done? Yeah absolutely you can and you can do this actually in a variety of different ways.
00:14 So what you can do is copy the data out of the table in the scanner and then you can use what's called a paste special function inside of the editor software so I don't use this for knock retard, I actually use this quite often when I'm rescaling a mass airflow sensor.
00:33 Essentially what we end up with is a histogram where we have error percentage numbers scanned in or logged in which is basically the difference between our target air/fuel ratio and the air/fuel ratio we're measuring from our wideband so what we can do, let's say we've got an area where we've got a 5% discrepancy, we can copy that number out of the scanner and then we can use the paste special function into our MAF calibration and that will basically adjust the MAF calibration by that same percentage so just helps us dial in those tables quicker.
01:04 You do need to be a little bit careful though when you are using that paste special function because it's a situation where if there's garbage data in the scanner, then we're going to end up applying that garbage data to our editor, we're going to end up with garbage in, garbage out so a little bit of common sense and an understanding of exactly what you're looking at is key there.
