Summary

00:00 - How do you determine how much toe out to run? Yeah great questions Chad, so what Chad's talking about there is when you're going ahead and doing your setup, how do you define what toe measurements should you start with? Now it's really going to depend a lot on the application, both on the type of car and the type of competition you're running.
00:17 Now I don't know exactly what your particular situation is Chad and you're welcome to ask a follow up questions, I'll try give you something a little bit more specific but let's say you've got a car where you are running maybe, it's some local club racing or something like that.
00:30 Let's say you've got a front engine rear wheel drive just for argument's sake.
00:33 You're usually operating in the sort of range of 1-2 mm toe out per wheel so what I mean by that, this is something you've got to be careful of when you're discussing toe settings with someone, is that you do have to be careful whether you're talking about per wheel or per axle so obviously per axle you're going to be double of what you've got per wheel so for argument's sake, if on the front axle I've got 1 mm toe out per side, that gives me 2 mm toe out total.
00:58 So just something to be clear about when you're discussing to with people, you do have to make sure of all those conventions that you're following.
01:05 So front engine rear wheel drive, maybe you're doing some autocross or circuit racing, you might be looking at something like 1-2 mm toe out per corner on the front axle and maybe 1 mm ish toe in on the rear.
01:17 Sort of once you start getting more than 2 mm either out or in on one corner, that probably starts to get a little bit more excessive.
01:24 You're usually working in that -2 to +2 mm category and you've really just got to iterate and play around with it from there.
01:30 It changes so much depending, not just the type of car and the competition, but obviously also the tyres that you're running have a massive influence on the optimum settings.
