00:00 - Next question comes from Ewan who's asked, is tuning a petrol engine and a diesel engine roughly the same or are they fairly worlds apart? Honestly Ewan, they could not be more different, it's literally chalk and cheese.
00:11 With a diesel engine, obviously first of all we simply don't have an ignition event, there's no spark plug I should say, there is actually an ignition event but we're not initiating that with a spark, it's a compression ignition engine.
00:25 What we do have instead of ignition timing is we've got injection timing and the other aspect with a diesel engine is that we've got no throttle body and the power and torque delivery is controlled purely by how much diesel we inject.
00:39 The other aspect with a diesel engine is we always run on the lean side of stoich and as we add more fuel, unlike a petrol engine where that will actually make the engine safer, adding more fuel with a diesel engine makes more power but also creates more heat and can potentially be damaging.
