HP Tuners MPVI 3 - Quick Introduction

Here's a quick introduction to the HP Tuners MVPI 3 interface including some comparisons to the older MVPI 2 version.

NOTE: This quick 'Today at HPA' update video release was delayed, but the information is still relevant/current.

This was recorded before an HPA members-only live webinar lesson over on our website.

It doesn't seem like all that long ago we got the MVPI 2 update, but version 3 from HP Tuners does bring with it some great changes, in particular the inclusion of the Pro Feature set which the HP Tuners community have been stoked to hear.

The genuine improvements also include doubling the capacity of the logging memory from 4GB to 8GB as well as bumping up the logging rate (specific speed not stated) speed. Note the data logging rate is different to the speed at which you can read/write to your ECU, and that speed is limited by the vehicle you are tuning, not the interface, HP Tuners or otherwise. A high-resolution (the specific resolution not stated) accelerometer has been added, and HP Tuners state Ford EEC-V support is also now available in some marketing material but also state it is not supported on their supported vehicles list, so get in touch directly with them to confirm if applicable to you.

If you've seen or heard about the HPA data analysis courses you will know we're big on data logging so we're more than pleased to see attention paid to this by HP Tuners as no one wants to try to secure a laptop in their car for scanning purposes, especially in a track car.

All the features from MVPI 2 including the PROLINK+ cable capability, scanning functions, and the credit-based system are retained. There is an upgrade option via HP Tuners directly to upgrade from MVPI, MVPI 2 or MVPI 2+ to the new MVPI 3 version.

The HP Tuners OBD2 to BRP Adaptor cable is also something we have on hand for future Powersports tuning content via a CanAm Maverick, but that is still some time away.

Also mentioned is the GM Gen V (that is Gen 5 for those like me who weren't born during the reign of the Roman Empire) tuning example which is now live. It runs through the HPA 6-step reflash tuning process. A lightly modified supercharged LT4 is used for the example, but it is going to apply to you if you are tuning any GM engine of this generation with mild modification.

In fact, if you're tuning using HP Tuners, EFILive, ECUFlash, RomRaider, COBB etc, this course or the tuning starter package for those brand new to EFI tuning is still for you with examples on all these platforms and more included.
