Hptuner transmission adapt reset

Hi there I’m currently just a begin stepping on not the world of tuning!

im currently have a issue with my HPtuner I had to replace my automatic transmission with another replacement trans which had to be programmed by Holden because of the blank new tcm! I’ve been back into tuning the transmission shifts to make them better!

the issue im having is I can’t get the transmission to perform the adaptive relearn! I think I know how but the Learn won’t start because the gear selector shows 1 instead of D so sitting there and flicks between apply brake command and selector D but won’t go any further & I think it’s because is not thinking it’s in drive! Please help because I must be stupid

Was the transmission replaced with a different model transmission, or the transmission controller replaced with something else?

Simply replacing with a like transmission shouldn't require altering any settings for it to function, perform learning etc.

Just in case what you're seeing isn't an issue related to the transmission replacement other factors in transmission learning is idle engine speed and idle engine speed stability, so just in case this is a heads/cam setup for example, you'll need to ensure idle is stable and in the range required for learning to occur. Engine and transmission temps also generally need to be within a certain range.

Transmission was replaced with correct replacement but when you get a recon transmission from fluid drive who builds them for Holden they have brand new TCM module which is blank! I had that programmed by Holden.

but now transmission shifts garbage compared to other transmission that had been tuned!

Engine is tuned for bolt on mods! No cams etc so idle is stable

but I still can’t get trans to preform adapt learns in the scanner afterwards. even when trans is at correct temp! I can watch the PID for requirements to preform! It sees me apply the service brake but doesn’t see the gear selector D so won’t proceed

when you look at live data for gear selection it has 1 instead of PRND! So I think that is the problem even in park it shows value of 1! So does trigger relearn! But it show PRND etc on the car dash!

I suggest reading the new TCM and comparing to the tune on the old TCM using the built in compare function. That will make it clear what the differences are so you can easily resolve it, IF your issue has anything to do with the cal on the TCM.

I don’t have a compare file of old trans tune!

That’s not my problem I can build my own trans tune! The problem I’m having is the HPtuner scan tool is not seeing the transmission gear selection!

unless the scan tools sees the transmission shift from park to Drive it will not preform the relearn because of that!

There has to be a setting or something I don’t know about! Might get a different scan tool to try preform the adapt relearn with!

I don’t care about the old tune I’ll build my own but if I can’t preform the adapt relearn afterwards
